Welcome to the dreamstation.systems NTP server!

How to use my NTP server

Point your NTP client to, preferably, dreamstation.systems. If your NTP client is IP‐only, you can hardcode 67.215.249.229. Unfortunately currently IPv4‐only, my VPS provider lives in the stone age.

We serve NTP on 123/UDP, as well as NTS-KE on 4460/TCP using a Let's Encrypt certificate.

We use chrony ratelimit interval 2 burst 32: burst of 32 requests, refilling 1 per 4 seconds per source IP. Your packets will be dropped if you exceed this. This should be more than enough for single clients and small NATs. Please do not hardcode dreamstation.systems on every host in a large NAT; use pool.ntp.org.

If you are a vendor, please do not hardcode dreamstation.systems in your devices; use a NTP pool vendor zone.

Please never use dreamstation.systems for safety‐critical systems.

About the time we serve

We do not do leap smearing. Leap seconds are handled per RFC 5905.

We serve stratum 2 time off a variety of stratum 1 upstreams: see ntpstats.txt for details.

Warnings

This is hobbyist‐operated. I intend to keep this up for the foreseeable future, and hopefully forever, but don’t yell at me if this disappears tomorrow.

Please never use dreamstation.systems for safety‐critical systems.

We also retain some data. We log IPs answered, and we publish aggregate information about GeoIP countries and ASNs we’ve talked to.

Will reboot with no warning at any time, but downtime will be less than one minute.

Again, no formal guarantees, but I’ll try to give at least one week’s notice on this page for downtime longer than that.
